ISARA baby carriers – Hip Healthy from newborn to preschooler

January 7, 2021 by roxana No Comments

If you’re not new to the babywearing world, you know for sure the “hip-healthy” statement, all that it encompasses and the importance of it. But if you’re in the search of a baby carrier and new to this field, this is what you should know and definitely consider when choosing one. (read until the end for a surprise bonus voucher!)

see the difference between a non-ergonomic carrier (left) and an ergonomic one (right)

But first, here are a few information about Hip Dysplasia that you might find useful when learning about ergonomic baby carriers:

Hip Dysplasia is the medical term for the instability and free movement of the hip joint.  This is caused by the abnormal development of the femoral joint in which the iliac bone is fixed, allowing the femur to slip from the joint.

Thousands of children are affected annually by this anomaly, the severity varies from a slight instability to a complete dislocation of the hip. Approximately 1 out of 20 newborn babies suffer from one form of the instability of the hip, and 2 – 3 children in 1000 need treatment.

Hip Dysplasia is not a birth defect, because nothing is ”missing”. This instability appears as a result of the hormones that are produced while giving birth, which causes the relaxation of the ligaments. The child’s position during birth can also cause the dislocation. Happily, most hip dysplasia cases resolve naturally if specific steps are taken to alleviate the dysplasia.

In order to prevent hip dysplasia, but also in order to correct it, babywearing in an ergonomic carrier is recommended, as it provides proper structure to keep babies’ legs in an “M” position, in which knees are higher than the bottom and the pressure is not on the baby’s spine.  This positioning keeps a healthy physiological spine curve.

An ergonomic baby carrier should favor the normal growth of the physiological curves of the spine (cervical lordosis, dorsal kyphosis, and lumbar lordosis) and keep the baby’s legs bent and spread apart, following the position recommended for the prevention and treatment of hip dysplasia.

Babywearing in this ergonomic position stimulates the normal growth of the hip and prevents hip dysplasia, which can be caused by incorrect and unergonomic babywearing.

Moreover, children who are treated for congenitally dislocated hips, benefit greatly from corrective orthosis with thighs apart and are recommended to be worn in a wrap or other carriers, with a wide supportive base supporting the thighs.

Wearing baby in the right position combats congenital hip subluxation and sprains, especially of girls, by allowing the child to stay in “M” position, in which the top of the femur is covered more than 2/3 of the acetabulum of the hip bone.

Babywearing outward facing can be deemed unsafe and unhealthy because it does not allow for proper support of the hips and spine.  While forward facing, the center of gravity is exterior oriented and the pressure is placed on the hips and on the base of the spine.

The International Institute of Hip Dysplasia recognizes ISARA carriers and wraps to be ergonomic and stimulating the normal healthy growth of the hip and prevents hip dysplasia.

ISARA favors the normal growth of the physiological curves of the spine  ( cervical lordosis , dorsal kyphosis and lumbar lordosis ) and keeps baby’s legs bent and spread apart, following the position recommended for the prevention and treatment of hip dysplasia.

ISARA is listed as a Hip-Healthy product on The International Hip Dysplasia Institute Official Page.

Bye 2020!

December 24, 2020 by roxana No Comments

2020, we say goodbye.

We started 2020 with lots of hopes and our agenda full of planned visits of new fairs, events and challenges. January started pretty just how we predicted, we managed to launch the 4th version of the The Trendsetter and we were happy to see how well it was received. We were already working on the finishing touches of the NEW Quick Full Buckle Carrier and we were so happy to start prepping for its special launch at Kind und Jugend in Koln.

Our March 2020 post

Everything was right on track.

Long story short, as soon as March came is was heartbreaking to accept that all our plans to physically travel more to meet new parents, consultants and partners will have to be put on hold.

We understood and embraced the bigger cause, just as the importance of everyone being safe is more important than anything in this world.

We understood that our plans don’t have to change, that the only thing that we have to do is to adapt. And so we did! We started to work as much as possible from home, spend more time with our family, multitask and babywear more, and somehow, we realized that at some point this might actually be one of the best thing that happened. We realized that we needed some time apart from traffic jams and crowded spaces just to rediscover ourselves in the love of our families.

So this story has a bigger picture. In 2020 we grew together more than anytime. In 2020 we understood the true meaning of staying together, for better and for worse. In 2020 we learned the importance of being humble and that in the eyes of God we’re truly all the same. In 2020 we understood even more that love is the answer to everything. So simply love your family, love all you do and embrace everything with love and good things will come. Things will get better.

2020 was a lesson. 2021 will be a new beginning.

Thank you!

ISARA – Interview with Tsvetomira Yotsova 💗

December 15, 2020 by mirela No Comments

Over the years, we have met so many wonderful people, whether they were babywearing consultants, or simply babywearing enthusiasts, all of them taught us something and we cherish all the bonds and friendships we created with them.

We decided to ask them a few questions about their babywearing journey, and they happily joined.

Tsvetomira is a “veteran” ISARA friend, she`s always been very close and dear to us. A strong, outdoor mother to 3 wonderful children, a freelance biologist in love with nature, and a birth doula, Tsvetomira is a specialist when it comes to babywearing. Not only because she`s a certified babywearing consultant, but she also has the best experience with it, having worn all of her 3 children over the years.

It`s always a pleasure to receive her feedback and this interview with her, though short, brought a smile on our faces.

ISARA: How did your babywearing adventure start?

TSVETOMIRA: It started with my first son Nikola in the summer of 2013. But actually a little earlier when I was getting informed about Babywearing and stuff.

I: What kind of carrier did you use as a beginner?

T: I got a ring Sling first, a woven and stretchy at the same time, and rotated them for six months and then got a full buckle.

I: How did you hear about ISARA and what was your first impression of the brand?

T: I found It by random search on baby carriers on Google in 2016 and then I entered a test tour and got One for myself. This was the first wrap conversion I ever tried and fell in love with its comfort and softness.

I: Which ISARA carriers have you tested so far? Which one you liked the most and why?

T: Oh, all of them but the Quick full buckle. The Trendsetter, The One, Quick Half buckle, ring slings, and woven wraps. I love the One mostly.

I: What would the perfect carrier look like?

T: Adjustable, soft waistband, and nice wrap to made of.

I: How do you see the babywearing in the future?

T: More and more innovations and I hope less facing forward 🤣

Dear Tsvetomira, thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, it`s always a pleasure!

Morse Code Collection: Decoding LOVE

December 6, 2020 by roxana No Comments

Joy, Love, Happy, Together, One, Life. Six core elements embedded in babywearing to spread tiny pieces of magical attachment through a unique “language of love”: Morse Code!

We all have those precious moments when we spend endless hours staring at our little treasures, in awe of the miracle we have created.

The bond shared between a parent and a child is inexhaustible and everyone knows that this close-knit, unbreakable connection starts with two-way communication between mama and lil’ squish, while being in the womb, surrounded by sweet, muffled sounds and gentle baby bump massages.

Infused with the novel, cutting-edge features of our latest innovation in babywearing ISARA The ONE, Morse code is a love language, created to embody all the feels and gushes your heart may store. Communicate your love through dots and dashes, carrying the world in your arms!

Toting your love all day long has never looked so special! ISARA Morse Code has become the babywearing language coordinator, with a hug-me-close manner of expressing love, so quintessential for strengthening your family bond.

It is an exclusive edition, featuring burgundy-ruby hue and the softest creamy fusion, conveying tranquility, femininity, and incandescent love, all through a series of dots and dashes. Crafted from the most luxurious organic cotton, woven in Jacquard weave, our exclusive collection encompasses the true language of love, always cradled into your loving arms.

ISARA Morse Code is a series of dots and dashes that conveys love in a discrete and intimate way, allowing you to express and share endless love with open arms and infinite freedom.

Every child is born to seek love, the preset function of humanity and fundamentally understand its meaning, cradled in the knowledge of your presence. Sometimes love is truly uninterpretable by the one who hears, sees or wears it, therefore ISARA Morse Code encompasses the true power of love, a stronger and far more meaningful bond, that can be only deciphered with pure love.

P.S. How do we express our love these days?

If you haven’t already known, there are 5 different ways or love languages in which people frequently communicate and perceive emotional love: Words of affirmation, Acts of service, Receiving gifts, Quality time and Physical touch.

ISARA deciphers Love with MORSE CODE!

ISARA – Interview with Selina Hime (Babywearing in Singapore)

November 27, 2020 by mirela No Comments

Over the years, we have met so many wonderful people, whether they were babywearing consultants, or simply babywearing enthusiasts, all of them taught us something and we cherish all the bonds and friendships we created with them.

We decided to ask them a few questions about their babywearing journey, and they happily joined.

Selina is one of our international brand ambassadors located in Singapore, and who is happily babywearing her little ones in one of our ISARA carriers, The One Play of Lights. She even manages to breastfeed her newborn while carrying him, so kudos to you, Selina!

ISARA: How did your babywearing adventure start?

SELINA:  My babywearing adventure started when I had my firstborn who’s almost 3 years old now. Someone mentioned something about another baby carrier and that’s how I eventually drop into the rabbit hole.

I: What kind of carrier did you use as a beginner?

S: My first carrier was a soft structured carrier.

I: How did you hear about ISARA and what was your first impression of the brand?

S: I got to hear about ISARA via Instagram and I thought that it’s really versatile and stylish.

I: Which ISARA carriers have you tested so far? Which one you liked the most and why? Which ISARA carrier you`d like to also test?

S: I’ve tried The One. I love how breathable the wrap conversion is. The leg padding of the carrier is cushy and does not cause redness on my newborn’s thigh. I’d be interested to try ISARA’s Quick.

I: What would the perfect carrier look like?

S: A perfect carrier will be something which is suitable for all sizes, be it wearer or kids, something soft and suitable for any climate. Easy care is a bonus.

I: How do you see babywearing in the future?

S: Babywearing will be part of parents’ or even caregivers’ life, for bonding and comfort. With all types of carriers available, everyone should be able to find the one that suits them best.

Thank you, Selina, for sharing with us your vision about babywearing. 💗

ISARA – Interview with Mirjam Rudolph, Swiss babywearing consultant

November 10, 2020 by mirela No Comments

Over the years, we have met so many wonderful people, whether they were babywearing consultants, or simply babywearing enthusiasts, all of them taught us something and we cherish all the bonds and friendships we created with them.

We decided to ask them a few questions about their babywearing journey, and they happily joined.

Our first awesome lady who answered our questions is Mirjam, one lovely, Swiss babywearing consultant. She is very committed to bringing as many men as possible into the babywearing world and she`s doing a great job.

ISARA: How did your babywearing adventure start?

Mirjam: I started carrying my first son in a Swiss half buckle carrier. A very expensive carrier from the Tragebaby brand.

I: What kind of carrier did you use as a beginner?

M: I prefer wearing half buckles.

I: How did you hear about ISARA and what was your first impression of the brand?

M: In March 2020 I was able to test an ISARA Quick from the Swiss carrying school for the first time. I liked it right away and felt great. My first impression of the stretcher was great. The workmanship was very good and also wearing comfortable.

I: Which ISARA carriers have you tested so far? Which one you liked the most and why? Which ISARA carrier you`d like to also test?

M: So far we only have the ISARA Quick. We prefer this stretcher because we can carry it high on our back. Thanks to the straps, it is continuously adjustable for men and women and always fits perfectly. In addition, the carriers can be fanned out for different weight distribution.

I: What would the perfect carrier look like?

M: From my point of view, the perfect carrier has a hip belt with Velcro. I can move these together or apart. I also prefer a full buckle stretcher that has the straps attached to the waist belt, as I can then carry the stretcher high on my back. a system where I can strap the straps from the waist belt to the back is a luxury 🙂

I: How do you see babywearing in the future?

M: I have the feeling that in the future more and more parents will carry their children in baby carriers. It is slowly becoming “fashion” again and not only practical 🙂 Many parents go for a simple design … and social media is becoming increasingly important.

Thank you, Mirjam, for sharing with us your vision over babywearing!

21 Reasons to babywear in 2021

November 3, 2020 by mirela No Comments

There`s a saying that right after Halloween ends, people start the Christmas fever and preparations for the new year. I think we can all agree that we`re actually expecting that this weird year is over, and once the new one arrives, things will change to better (fingers crossed).

But given the fact that the future is always unpredictable and we need to adjust our lifestyle to any condition that appears, I have made a list of 21 reasons, why babywearing is having only advantages, regardless of the context we`re living in.

  1. The baby is always close to you. When it comes to a newborn, especially, having him wrapped up, close to you will give you the possibility to respond to any needs he`s thriving for.
  2. The bonding. In the first months after birth, many mothers doubt their maternal instincts, but it`s proven that hearing their mother’s heartbeat, soothes the baby. Happy baby=happy mom.
  3. The hands-free. You`re always able to continue with chores around the house, to shop, to cook, while caring for the little one as well.
  4. Get some time for yourself even when you`re alone with the baby. You can still drop by at the salon, to get your nails or hair done, while the little one rests in your arms, especially if you`re the only one who can take care of him at that point.
  5. Meet with your friends. Continue to see your friends, just like before the baby was born. You can still catch up with your best friend, grab a cup of coffee, without worrying about who would babysit him, or constantly wondering if the baby is alright. He`s right there, close to you.
  6. Workout! Thanks to kanga classes, now both you and your baby can enjoy exercising and staying fit.
  7. Meet new parents just like you. Babywearing communities are continually growing, and they often form a great supporting group of mom and dads who babywear.
  8. Go on the trip you planned. You can enjoy your hobbies, by traveling along with your baby.
  9. Spend quality time with your elderly children. After the birth of a new baby, the older siblings may tend to feel neglected, because a newborn always demands most of your attention.
  10. Continue your studies. Now that most courses have moved to online, it`s easier to attend them and care for the baby. Get those earphones and continue to cuddle your baby, while joining the online classes.
  11. Wear again your toddler who now walks, and remember the times he was so little and smelled like a newborn.
  12. Enjoy a peaceful walk in the woods, in the park or on the beach, to fill your heart again with beautiful sights.
  13. Show your baby the world and take him with you everywhere, carrying him close to your heart.
  14. Keep him in your arms if you`re not yet prepared to let other people hold him. A carrier will keep him safe where he belongs.
  15. When fever kicks in, bring the carrier into action. It`s proved that skin on skin may reduce the high temperature and stabilize it.
  16. Walk your dog at any time of the day. It will be refreshing for you&the baby, and your dog will be happy, too.
  17. Join your friend’s wedding, even if your baby is new to this world. You`ll be happy to attend and your friend will appreciate your effort. Grab a pair of baby headphones for the noise and party as much as you can.
  18. Have a romantic walk with your spouse and hold hands just like before.
  19. Read your favorite book, while the baby sleeps in your arms, carried by you.
  20. Get your meals done, enjoy cooking uninterrupted. The baby is safer on the back, try backcarrying while cooking.
  21. Enjoy the softness and cuddles of a cute, little baby, he may grow up so fast, you won`t realize there`s no small baby to carry around.

So, here are the 21 reasons to babywear next year as well. Have you got any more reasons? Let us know, we`d love to hear abut them.

Which ISARA speaks your language?

October 19, 2020 by roxana No Comments

Ever since the first baby carrier, ISARA created lead generation babywearing gear, setting the trend for adjustable baby carriers. Having sustainability, innovation and shaping a better future as our core beliefs, we continued to adapt to parents’ needs and to expand our range of products. We’re now proud that we’ve managed to complete our family of baby carriers with 4 #innovative ISARA: The Trendsetter, The ONE, Quick Half Buckle Carrier and the latest released Quick Full Buckle Carrier.

There’s now one ISARA for every parent, baby size, preference or budget. One carrier will speak your babywearing language, for sure!

Each one of them is special and can complete your babywearing journey at some point. They do not exclude each other, they do not complete each other, they simply can be part of your babywearing journey at some point and be just the kind of babywearing gear you need.

The most complex of them all, with EXTREME adjustability features, The ONE, can be the only carrier you would need. It’s the TOP of the top, it fits ALL, all parents and all children. You can adjust it in any way you want, for any size you as a parent are or the baby may be as he grows, from newborn up until the end of preschool years.

You can adjust the seat and the panel inch by inch, just as the baby grows. The panel can be adjusted asymmetrically for more head support when the baby is asleep, or close it completely while babywearing if your baby suddenly wants to explore and take the hands out of the carrier. It is also super easy to adapt for breastfeeding on the go! For toddlers and preschoolers the base of the carrier can be extended up to 66 cm wide with seat transformers, assuring the knee to knee support for all children up until the end of preschool years.

The carrier can be adjusted for any wearer, tall or petite of any shape and it’s impressive what you can do with the straps!

There’s a strap, adaptor or a transformer you can adjust in so many ways that it fits perfectly at any point of your babywearing journey. It can be difficult at first to figure out how to adjust and buckle it up to the perfect fit, but once you make it, it becomes just like a second nature. Budget wise is the most expensive of them all, but it’s so worth it! The tailor made kind of fit is impressive! It can be found as Full Wrap Conversion or made of canvas fabric, both 100% pure organic cotton.

Then comes The Trendsetter, also super adjustable in length and in height, but more compact and intuitive.

It is available in 2 adjustable sizes, standard for baby’s size from 56 to 98 cm and toddler from 68 to 116 cm. It doesn’t have adapters or transformers, but it’s super adjustable between sizes. It’s easier to figure out than The ONE right when you get it out of the box but, budget wise, can be a little more expensive if you decide to babywear long term, because you’ll have to switch between sizes, from standard to toddler, when your baby will reach about 3 years of age, despite The ONE, which offers extreme adjustability and the same baby carrier adjusts from newborn to preschooler.

It’s the perfect choice if you prefer a lighter, more compact, less expensive version of The ONE, but remember that if you’d like to babywear past 3 years old, you’d have to upgrade to the toddler version of The Trendsetter. Its innovative features, for example, the possibility to adjust the panel asymmetrically for head support while sleeping, also found in The ONE, make it one of the most appreciated on the market. It also comes with a fitting belt included – this addition offers you the possibility to close the shoulder straps between baby’s bottom – the Infant Fitting Belt is useful for newborns and babies in their first months of life, allowing the wearer to extend the shoulder straps and close the buckle under the baby’s bottom, at the waist belt area, in order to attain an optimal position of a small baby similar to the one achieved in a woven wrap.

ISARA Quick, both the Full Buckle Carrier and the Half Buckle Carrier come with a new adjustment system than The ONE and The Trendsetter, easier and quicker, adjusting both the length and the height – ALL in ONE SINGLE STEP!

The Half Buckle is a hybrid between a woven wrap and a buckled carrier, with a buckled waist and long, partly padded, woven straps. It offers you the features of a babycarrier with the feel of a woven wrap and the most beautiful part is that you can tie it with fancy finishes, knots and ribbons to add a little personality to your babywearing walks. It doesn’t need adjustments between wearers and it’s extremely adaptable to any shape of your body, as you don’t have to buckle under your armpit if you find it uncomfortable.

It does not have long term usage and if you decide on wearing your baby past 98 cm height you may need to switch to The Trendsetter toddler size or The ONE. Budget wise is very friendly, but it is not as compact as the others.

If you love the fancy tie of a woven wrap, but you’d want to take advantage of the features of an adjustable baby carrier, ISARA Quick Half Buckle Carrier is the way to go.

The Quick Full Buckle Carrier is the ultimate simplicity in terms of adjustable compact baby carriers. It offers everything you need in an adjustable daily use baby carrier, at a super attractive price!

It’s extremely easy to use for a beginner in babywearing who wants the ultimate wearing solution without diving deep into the babywearing world. So if that’s the case, this might be the best choice!

It’s literally 2 clicks when it comes to buckling it up and with its super quick #patentpeding adjustment system it really is as simple as it can be. So if you’re new to the babywearing world and you’re not very handy in anything babywearing related and the budget is short, but still want to wear your little one close to your heart, choose Quick Full Buckle Carrier. It is made to comfortably wear babies from 50 up to 98 cm, and after that, if you and your baby decide that the babywearing journey shouldn’t stop, you can anytime switch to the toddler size of the Trendsetter (compact super adjustable) or The ONE (not so compact – but EXTREMELY ADJUSTABLE).

Along the journey, new prints and colors were added, new collections and blends were released, but one thing will always stay the same. The thirst for innovation.

Of course, we won’t stop here, surprises always await, there are no boundaries when it comes to ensuring mothers and dads a smoother parenthood.

Babywearing is for every parent and every baby and we’re confident that one of the 4 ISARA listed above speaks your language. If you’re having any troubles figuring out the best choice, you can write us anytime, we’d be happy to help!
